Want Companionship? Get Yourself A Pet!

November 6th, 2008 · No Comments

If you want a companion or a little company in your home, consider buying a pet. There are many types of pets to choose from and you should choose your pet to fit into your lifestyle and the size of your home.

If you live in an apartment building, getting a dog may not be your first best choice. Dogs must be taken outdoors several times a day, and if you leave home to work, your dog will be left alone in your apartment and will become lonely, may disturb the neighbors with barking, plus you will need to hire someone to come and take your dog out for walks while you are away.

Things To Think About Before You Buy A Pet Bird

August 30th, 2008 · No Comments

While a bird is an easy pet to care for, they do require just as much commitment and preparation as any other type of pet. Whether you are buying a small parakeet or an large parrot, you should make sure that you are prepared to care for your new feathered friend properly.

One thing that all pets, including birds need is attention. If your schedule has you working long hours and not spending much time at home, perhaps you should consider a fish tank instead of a bird. A bird cannot be left in it's cage alone all the time and still be expected to be friendly on the odd days when you feel like playing with it. Some birds require more interaction than others, but they are social creatures and need you to set aside some time each day to play with them. You can use this time to teach them tricks and strengthen the bond between you.

Backyard Adventures

August 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Spring is upon us and being cooped up indoors this winter has caused me to have spring fever. I long for the fresh air and sunshine that being outdoors provides. With the high cost of gas and all the news about global warming and the going green groups, attention to the outdoors is greater. I am aware that my camping interests could very well be effective due to the high cost gas. I have to accept that I might be staying home more. Learning to enjoy our own backyard is a great idea, even if you are limited in the size of yard you have.

Bird Bath Heater

June 24th, 2008 · No Comments

One of the more enjoyable aspects of animals is that they act in interesting ways that sometimes seem to mimic our behavior. birds have this tendency as well. They call to each other to come and have some great food, or to be aware of danger, they will even invite other birds to come and take a nice cleansing bath. For winter bird bathing having a bird bath heater will still let you take advantage of your bird watching hobby.

As birds need water to drink and to cleanse themselves, having a bird bath near a bird feeder is a wonderful idea. The more experienced bird watcher will have many different treats left out for the birds no matter what the season is like. Unfortunately these treats may not be enough for the birds in the cold or freezing weather.

So Many Choices - Toys & Accessories For Exotic Parrots

June 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

I am floored at how many toys and accessories I see at pet stores and online from pet suppliers. The possibilities are endless!

However, I completely understand how an exotic pet owner likes to spoil their special adopted friend! My hedgehog doesn't even really play with toys, but I have a ton of them for her anyway, just in case…

But, I know from experience that exotic birds and parrots are very playful, intelligent and need constant mental stimulation.

When you get an exotic bird for a pet, these are the things you must think about purchasing.

Firstly, you need a great bird cage for your exotic bird. Please allow for ample space for your bird to move around in, especially if they are still capable of flying…They are birds!!!
