Looking for something interesting to do this coming weekend? As a resident of Sanibel and nearby Captiva, you will definitely have plenty of options to choose from. Sanibel may be a vacationer's paradise, but it is also a haven for the local residents.

If you happen to be looking for something relaxing to do that will help you to while away the cares and stresses of modern living, consider doing some shelling on Blind Pass, which is situated on the northern tip of Sanibel. The island itself actually forms a type of shelf that is excellent for capturing a host of seashells as they are swept along the coast in the currents of the Gulf of Mexico. Haven't started your seashell collection yet? This is an excellent place to get started!

Feel up to something a bit more active? Why not practice your swing at one of the numerous golf courses that are scattered throughout Sanibel Island. There are actually some 70 verdant green 18-hole golf courses to choose from, so whether you are semi-pro or a novice you can be sure there is a golf course to accommodate your skills.

Of course, there is absolutely no end to the number of water sports activities that are available in and around Sanibel, Florida. Choose from something fast paced like water skiing or something a bit more leisurely like fishing. If you happen to be new to the island, you might think about chartering a boat with one of the many fishing captains in the local area. This is not only a great way to plan a trip to remember but also to become better acquainted with your new island home.

Planning to start a new exercise regimen? Why not take your bike and ride through one of the 25 miles of bike paths that meander across Sanibel Island? Be sure to pack some sunscreen and your camera just in case you happen to spot some of the numerous wildlife that share this island paradise with you. One of the best places to stop for a rest or even a picnic is Sanibel Lighthouse; which is one of the oldest structures on this quaint island.

From the breathtaking local scenery to the fast faced and fun activities available in the area, there is always a world of fun to be enjoyed on Sanibel.
