It is really essential that all forms of dog training must be based on educating the dog. In other words, it must be done in away to develop the basic instincts and drawing out accidental and acquired habits.

It is highly recommended that you interpret situations and contacts from the perspective of the dog and not yourself. The reactions and abilities of the dog come first while your reaction comes last. It is not proper to expect your pet to react based on human's perspective and abilities. Let the dog behave based on his or her abilities and reactions.

It is not advisable to make a fool out of your dog. All dogs have a sense of pride as well as a sense of humiliation. Let the dog understand that when you give a certain command, you mean it.

Successful dog training requires that you let the dog understand the objective of a process. In other words, the dog must understand what should take place at the end of an exercise. For example, if your dog is involved in tracking, it must understand that a person or an item must be tracked.

Dogs are different from humans that can understand commands. A dog requires that you issue commands in the same words, same tone of voice and speed of speaking. Anything contrary will not produce the result you want.

In order to successfully train a dog, it is highly advisable to always anticipate the reaction of the dog. This means that you must think ahead and give your command before the dog acts or move.

A dog is successfully trained if he can act out series of steps without missing. If a step is done wrongly, it is recommended that you return to the beginning so that the dog can get the whole series of steps right.

In order to get your dog to behave as you want, it is advisable to always give reward or punishment immediately. Never postpone it as the dog will not be able to connect the rewards or punishment with an act.

Dogs are single track minded. Hence, they cannot be taught lots of different things at the same time. You must teach them one thing at a time if you want them to act in a desired way.
